Who I amI've been a ICT Consultant and Contractor for 5 years, working in Italy and UK. Now I am employed by the cool guys at Collabora ltd, Cambridge, UK. My interests are split in two main areas: "system and network architecture" and "software architecture". There is a common theme in the two areas: my main purpose is helping companies in increasing their productivity/efficiency working on their hardware, software and teams. My interests are Free/Libre/Open Source Software (FLOSS), software architecture and engineering, TCP/IP networks, Linux servers and communication protocols (i.e., SMTP, Instant Messaging, VoIP). I'm also a Debian GNU/Linux developer, currently on "sabbatical". I started my career, even if I'm using computers since '80s, on year 2000; I worked the first 5 years for companies involved in the Internet business with permanent contracts; after which period I realised I preferred work on my own, specialising in SW architecture and TCP/IP networking. I've been a self employee since 2004 until 2009, with a personal company in Italy. Since November 2009 I am Employed at Collabora ltd. System and Network ArchitectureLinux servers networks were the central activity in my system and network administration tasks during my five years as employee. My main activities in the systems or networks area concern Linux servers networks, complex network structure (i.e., high availability, load balancing, service redundancy), TCP/IP firewalling and network security. I deal with advanced configuration of DNS, HTTP, SMTP, POP/IMAP, LDAP servers and AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) systems. Software Architecture and ManagingMy main interests in software engineering are object oriented programming and software architecture. My main activity as consultant was helping companies to improve their efficiency (and thus productivity) in developing their software projects. I advocate Agile Software Development methodologies and the use of well done and open team/project management software.
